Art Poster Latona with Apollo and Diana Transforming the Peasants of Lycia into Frogs Mythology Ilustration Painting
According to Ovid's Metamorphoses the goddess Latona took her newborn infants, Diana and Apollo, and crossed over to Lycia where she attempted to bathe her children in and drink from a spring she found there. But the local people tried to stop her, stirring the bottom of the spring so that the mud would come up. Enraged over their lack of hospitality, Latona turned them all into frogs, forever doomed to swim and hop in the murky waters of the spring.
