3D Portrait of Marilyn Monroe. Acrylic Painting on Cardboard and various washing products plastic bottles [Recycled Art]

This Marilyn Monroe portrait is based on a photograph session of 1953 when she was 27 and was at the peak of her career. To mark the 70th anniversary of that photo shoot I painted this work in November 2023. The surface was created by silicon gluing a number of recycled washing products plastic bottles on a cardboard base. There is a contradiction between the iconic image of Marilyn and the mundane characteristics of the objects on which it is painted. The opposition between the sex-symbol and the housewife is patent. The distorsion of the image created by the irregularity of the surface makes the viewer wonder if the pristine exterior image of Marilyn does not hide a tormented and tortured psicological interior life.
