In the background there is a refugee camp in the desert made of tents that extend into the horizon. The Sahrawi people have been displaced and forced to live in camps for nearly half a century and no solution to their situation seems to be in the near future.

The irregularity  of the surface distortes the image and adds drammatism to the scene.
